As the Musical Director for the Classic Sounds Orchestra (CSO), you would normally find Rachel John wielding the baton, or playing the lead violin or cello roles in the chamber orchestra. This year, Rachel goes solo. The intimate setting of the Minnawarra Chapel provides the peaceful location; the church acoustic is the ideal venue to hear Rachel sing, play the violin, the cello, and accompany guest performers from the Harpsichord, which is commissioned for use by the History House Museum.
David McManus will join Rachel when he plays the classical guitar, and Heather Connan and Leanne Crestani are viola specialists from CSO. Repertoire includes JS Bach favourites, The Water Is Wide, She Moved Through the Fair, and original compositions by both David, and Rachel.
A program will be provided and the whole concert will be dialogue-free, allowing the audience to be completely immersed in the musical intimacy. Rachel selects a repertoire that is simply beautiful and meditative. It reminds us of the essence that music brings to our soul and the importance of feeling love, through music. Rachel likens this concert to a musical massage, the flow of satin or liquid chocolate. Melt in to Music is a recital approximately 50 minutes in duration. For your comfort on the pews, BYO cushion.
