16 May at 7.30 pm - 9.40 pm
$30
Perth musicians Wayne Perry and Ian Simpson will be at the Armadale District Hall to deliver a unique tribute, ‘Sundown, the Songs of Gordon Lightfoot’.
Named after one of his greatest hits, Sundown is an intimate performance of the Lightfoot legacy. Gordon Lightfoot passed away in 2023, and his iconic lyrics live on through these two great performers. Wayne and Ian provide sublime renditions of If You Could Read My Mind, Beautiful, Canadian Railroad Trilogy, Early Morning Rain, and many more.
Their engaging audience connections and dynamic musical talent will leave you feeling like it’s the best show you’ve been to in years. After delighting audiences in Albany and Bunbury, they’re back home in Armadale.
Wayne Perry is a versatile performer who was Festival Artist for the 2024 Armadale Arts Festival and performs with Bluegrass Parkway. When performing songs of the great songwriters of the 70s, he’s a sell-out success. When commenting on his Gordon Lightfoot devotion, “In the 70s and 80s I was inspired by the rich honesty of Lightfoot’s songwriting.”
Ian Simpson has recorded with the likes of Keith Urban, Paul Kelly and Slim Dusty. He is a seven-times Golden Guitar winner, Aria Award winner, and three-times National Banjo champion; he continues to be at the centre of Australian music royalty. Ian wows audiences with his banjo, dobro and guitar prowess.
For this occasion, Ian Simpson collaborates with the heartwarming vocals and guitar fingerpicking of Wayne Perry, making this duo a must-see event at the District Hall.
